Some basic operations in WhiteCat giving you trouble? This add-on will probably help. It aims to be simple and to the point. Here you will find answers to the classic recurring questions that come up first, before you become familiar with the "Cat".
Where can I find the latest version of WhiteCat?
Since April 2026, releases are published on the arpschuino GitHub:

Where should I put the WhiteCat folder?
You can keep as many versions of WhiteCat as you like.
Just be tidy and consistent with your folders.
Name them without spaces — ideally the same name as the release (with a date is even better).
When versions pile up, this small habit makes it easy to find your way around.
Important: place the folder directly under the root (in C:).
In general, WhiteCat does not like spaces in folder or file names.
How do I transfer my shows to a new version?
It's simple — just copy and paste.
Copy whatever you want to keep from the audio, import_export, plans, save, user… folders.
WhiteCat launches and displays "couldn't load fonts/doom.ttf"
You are trying to run WhiteCat directly from the archive. You must first extract it, then run it from the folder where it was extracted (in C:).
WhiteCat gets stuck on startup and won't open
WhiteCat has an internal server for receiving ArtNet signals.
This server is initialised at startup and may be blocked by the Windows firewall or your security software.
You need to allow WhiteCat through, or temporarily disable the blocking software.
Post on the forum if the problem persists.
WhiteCat is not yet cross-platform. Since the 2026 reborn, we are working towards it: most non-cross-platform libraries have been replaced. The goal is to support Mac and Linux by 2027.
Check in [CFG Menu] > Core that the Banger tab is ON.
The only way is to use the fader structure in Direct Channel mode. Assign the desired channel to a dock, then assign the MIDI control to that fader.
